Maria la Maga
(Maria the Magician) the Screenplay and the Novel
Welcome to My Author Portfolio
My work as a writer currently is focused on historical fiction. It is thoroughly researched to accurately portray the real life characters that cross paths with my fictional characters. This story is set in 1958, but encompasses today's climate of female empowerment. Maria is pure dynamite, not in a superhero sense, but in the fashion of a real life young woman that has set goals that are unstoppable. Welcome to the world of Maria the Magician. Don't hesitate to get in touch directly if you have any questions, comments, or reviews.

In 1958, democracy was being tested and was about to reshape the Western Hemisphere. Against the historical backdrop of the Cuban revolution, Maria Silvano, the young daughter of a murdered Cuban diplomat returns to the island where she grew up to seek vengeance against the tyrant dictator, Fulgencio Batista. From her chance encounter in a Mexican bar with two young California adventure-jockeys, her courage ignites their passion sending them all on a life-changing escapade into another country’s war. Fate brings them face-to-face with the likes of Earnest Hemingway, Che Guevarra, Brian Wilson, and Wolfman Jack in the most tumultuous adventure imaginable.
Screenplay & Novel
It has been a very fulfilling experience to write this screenplay. How I became engrossed in the 1958 Cuban Revolution is still a bit of a mystery to me that I can't quite explain. My protagonist, Maria, evolved out of the Latin folklore that infused the Southern California border region where I grew up - primarily San Diego and Chula Vista. The stories I heard my family tell, helped shape my artistic voice. Once I completed the screenplay, I decided to further explore the escapades of Maria by tackling my first novel. I find the adventure of writing fiction to be a completely edifying experience.
